Original language description
This study is an overview of over fifty years of professional interest in archaeoloy of the modern age in the Czech lands. It highlights theoretical background and methods that it shares with archaeology focused on medieval periods, as well as new approaches and topics opened by achaeology of the modern era. Despite the facts that in recent decades research mainly focused on the early modern age (16th-18th centuries), reflections upon further development of this sub-discipline necessarily involve the extending of archaeological interest to material remains dating from the modern age and the recent past (19th-20th centuries).
