    The English landscape gardens were a new type of parks which originated in the 18th century. The landscape gardens were not limited to thte close surroundings of the chateau, they sought to mould large stretches of land. The article reconstructs the intellectual origin of the landscape gardens and their reception in the Bohemian lands. The best example of a landscape garden in Bohemia is the park of Veltrusy which was founded by Johann Rudolph count Chotek. It is analyzed here.
