The Urnfield Period Metal Hoards in South Bohemia. Find Circumstances, Topography, and Analyses
Original language description
Today, there are sixty-three metal hoards of the Urnfield Period known in the region of south Bohemia (Czech Republic). Most of them (forty) have been discovered in the last fifteen years, but they do not often have well-documented find contexts. Nevertheless, these newly discovered hoards bring us new information about the artefacts used at that time, namely about metallurgy, trade routes and foreign contacts, rituals, as well as connections between hoards, settlements, and other types of sites. This paper will present the methods and results of interdisciplinary approaches to the study of some south Bohemian metal hoards of the Late and Final Bronze Age (Br D–Ha B). Such interdisciplinary research can provide us with some answers leading to possible interpretations of the hoards.
