New Explanation of Titanium Effects on Plants
Original language description
The effect of titanium (IV) ascorbate on oats (Avena Sativa L. cv. Zlaťák) were studied in hydroponical experiment on modified Hoagland nutrient solutions containing 3 different Ti concentrations (0,2 and 18 ppm), 3 different Mg concentrations (0,2 and 10 mM) and 2 sources of nitrogen (NO3-, NH4+) in all 18 possible combinations. The influence of Ti on selected parametres indicating the plant health status and contents of selected elements was studied. Ti was significantly toxic only for the plants grown on the nutrient solutions containing NH4+, as the only nitrogen source, but in the case of the NO3- containing nutrient solution were observed significant beneficial affects on medium Ti concentration and in some cases (depending on the Mg concentration and parametet followed) also on high Ti concentration. Ti strongly increases, especially on the NO3- containing nutrient solutions, the Mg and Fe contents in plant tissues, but the K content is influenced much less. The increased nitrat
