Thickness of the fold of the skin fold behind the scapula and the rectal temperature were measured in beef and dairy-beef cows and heifers at 7 different farms in Šumava. Generally, the beef cattle have thickness of the fold of the skin fold behind the scapula thicker by 1mm than the local dairy-beef cattle. However, it does not have an influence on the mean rectal temperature, which varies and depends on age and not on breed of cattle. Young individuals usually have the rectal temperature higher.
