In the autumn months of 1999, a greater occurence of rust, namely uredio stages, was noticed on the leaves of a dominant variety (Alopecurus pratensis L.) in perennial grass growths in the region of the central Bohemian Forest (the location Zhurí, elevation 1050-1080m).Three methods of cultivation were evaluated at the experimental site in the years 1999 - 2003:Mulched growth (mulched once),Unharvested growth (fallow land) and,Mown growth (mown once).Plant pathology evaluation was carried out during September and October 1999 in three terms of evaluation. On the basis of our observations of the examined grass Alopecurus pratensis L. the highest spread of urediospores was found in the mown growth. A smaller infection pressure of urediospores occured inthe mulched growth. On the other hand the smallest extent of attack was found in the unharvested growth. As the originator of the spread of rust in the observed perennial growths we identified Puccinia perplexans.The actual determination
