Original language description
The aim of the paper is to briefly examine the development and the geographical distribution of newborns and infants up to one year of age in the Czech Republic. Numbers of newbornsobtained from the Czech Statistical Office were used in this analysis. Tract counts are assessed by means of the GIS software and software for spatial statistics. We focused on perinatal, neonatal and infant mortality rates according to district of residence. Descriptive techniques of spatial statistics were used to assess the geographical distribution of mortality rates.
