The Relation between Breeding Values and Genetic Polymorphism of Bulls

  • Original language description

The set of 183 breeding bulls of Czech Pied and Holstein cattle was genotyped in loci for DGAT1, CSN2 and CSN3. Analysis showed the prevalence of DGAT1A allele in both breeds, which was associated with higher EBVs for milk yield, while allele DGAT1L showed higher fat content. Allele CSN2A2 was prevalent and tended to be associated with higher fat and protein content, while CSN2A1 with higher milk production. CSN3 showed higher frequency of allele CSN3A, while in Czech Pied the frequencies of both alleles were similar. Allele CSN3B tended to be associated with higher EBVs for milk and milk protein yield and also milk protein content (non-significant).
