Different dynamics of solar energy distribution in several habitats have consequences in the changes of their temperature-humidity regime in dependence on the habitat´s characteristics, i.e. type and amount of vegetation, availability of water in the soil etc. The aim of this pilot study is 1. to assess the differences in temperature and humidity characteristics of the various habitats in the reclaimed landscape on the Podkrušnohorská spoil heap (Czech Republic), 2. to show the possibility of using a combination of remote sensing (Landsat 5 TM, 2 1 nd July, 2008) and terrain monitoring. Surface temperature, wetness index (Tasseled Cap) and NDVI were derived from the satellite data. Vegetation characteristics, temperature and humidity gradient were recorded using terrain monitoring. The dissipating functions of the individual types of reclamation were discussed in context of landscape structures as well as with broader surroundings of the mining and post-mining landscape.
