The health indicator parameters in blood of calves treated by selective prevention feed additives
Original language description
On a mountain dairy farm in the South Bohemia the effect of selective feed additives (algae alimentary supplement, probioticum, homeopaticum) on health indicator parameters in blood of calves of Czech Fleckvieh was examined. The blood samples were takenfrom the calves one week after the treatment by the feed additive and from the control group of calves at the same time without any additive treatment. The levels of hemoglobin, leukocytes, glucose, cholesterol, lipids, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium andurea in blood were measured. Higher mean values of glucose (from 4.7 to 5.4 mmol.l-1) and lower values of lipids (from 0.56 to 2.61 g.l-1) were found in all the groups in comparison to the values refered in the literature to a good health status of calves. Moreover, there were higher mean values of calcium (from 1.7 to 2.1 mmol.l-1) and lower values of magnesium (from 1.3 to 1.6 mmol.l-1) than the reference values in some of the groups. There were no significant differences in blood par
