: Over the past twenty years there have been significant changes in the number of heads of farm animals. During the years 1989 - 1995 the number of cows and the number of horses decreased to one-third. However, since 1995, horses are one of the farm animals at which the greatest numerical increase has occured. The current number of horses in the Czech Republic exceeds 74 thousand pieces. In the Czech Republic are led stud books for twenty breeds of horses, of which the decisive role play Czech warmblood, English thoroughbred, cold-blooded breeds - Noriker, Silesian noriker, Czech-Moravian belgian horse, Hucul and Old-Kladruby horse. In the Czech Republic the last four named breeds are ranked among animal genetic resources and state donations encouragestheir breeding. Over the last four years in the Czech republic the number of horse farms has nearly doubled.
