Differential expression analysis of genes involved in abiotic stress in oilseed rape.
Original language description
Abiotic stress including drought and cold strongly affects plant growth and development. Dehydrins, multi-family proteins with a high number of charged amino acids belong to the Group II Late Embryogenesis Abundant (LEA) family and play a fundamental role in plant response to abiotic stress. The drought and cold are two major abiotic stress factors influencing the expression of dehydrin genes. Although the identification and functional analysis of different stress induced dehydrins are well studied bothin model plant systems and important crop, despite their importance little is known about the genetic and functional roles of dehydrins in Brassica napus. Our studies resulted to quantification of expression and functional characterization of potentialdehydrin genes in Brassica napus and to study their polymorphism in different cultivars in response to drought and cold stress. This will enable to develop specific markers based on drought and cold-induced dehydrin genes and their allele
