The evaluation of performance parameters in boars and gilts of Prestice Black-Pied breed

  • Original language description

Prestice Black-Pied pig is a native breed, which since 1996 is raised as the genetic resource. Currently 365 sows and 52 boars are bred in 22 farms. Ten genealogical lines are used in breeding and two insemination doses of two lines are available in the cryopreserved state. The aim was to evaluate the determined parameters in the performance test, i.e. average daily gain from birth, average backfat thickness (adjusted to 90 kg live weight in gilts and adjusted to 100 kg live weight in boars) and lean meat content (adjusted to 100 kg live weight in both gender). Higher average daily gain by 45 g (P=0.001), higher backfat thickness by 0.3 mm and higher lean meat by 0.6% (P=0.004) were achieved in boars compared to gilts. The highest average daily gain was observed in offspring after line Akoga (549 g), the lowest was found after lines Sáčko (526 g) and Sokolík (529 g). The lowest backfat thickness was measured in offspring of line Viskont (10.1 mm), the highest was determined after lines Sokolík (11.5 mm), Amperor and Pirátek (11.4 mm) and Akoga (11.3 mm). The highest lean meat content was reached after line Viskont (59.9%) and the lowest was measured after lines Sokolík and Akoga (58.5%) and Pirátek and Amperor (58.6%). Statistics significant differences have not been observed in following parameters among the lines. Interaction gender * line was found in the backfat thickness (P=0.005) and the lean meat content (P=0.002).
