SDG 6: Public willingness in economic participation on garanted quality of drinking water assurance
Original language description
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted at the UN Summit in September 2015, are the joint development programme of all countries worldwide. They include a commitment to eradicate extreme poverty, ensure common prosperity and peace and build partnerships, but also to protect the environment. They were prepared not only by the states but also by many representatives of civil, business and academic sectors. One of the goals is to ensure the availability of safe drinking water, if possible, for all people. In implementing this goal, the wide participation of the public concerned is assumed. The problem of the availability of safe drinking water is faced especially by developing countries. Water in developed countries, including those in Europe, is subject to relatively strict legislation based on hygiene standards, the keeping of which is regularly checked. Seen from this perspective, we can consider the water we drink to be a safe one.
