Bartholomew Mastrius (1602-1673) and John Punch (1599 or 1603-1661) on the common nature and universal unity
Original language description
The study brings in the comparison of the theories of common nature and universal unity (universals) of two Baroque Scotists, sc. those of Bartholomew Mastrius and John Punch. Two theories can be considered as the evidence of the plurality of interpretations in the Scotistic school in the 17th century. While Mastrius's theory is exposed as the theory following truly the intention of John Duns Scotus, the interpretation of Punch is seen as being significantly influenced by the late-medieval and early modern Nominalism.
