The Early Church Order. Beginnings of Formation of Canon Law.
Original language description
The richly structured life of early Church suggests that systematic formation of specific ecclesiastic norms of law were soon to follow. In the first chapter on the joint decision-making of believers in the early church, the book follows the message contained in the Acts of the Apostles about completing the apostolic assembly. Apostle Paul did not belong among the Jesus´ Twelve, yet his extraordinary character is significant how the second chapter describes. The apostle Paul is also addressed in the seventh chapter, analysing his conception of marriage. The care of the Roman Church for all Church communities of the world is reflected in the first letter of Clement of Rome. Didache, a non-canonical writing of the old Church, is usually organised as the chronologically first among the pseudoapostolic collections. The phenomenon of Cristian martyrdom, described in the fifth chapter, meant for the Christians primarily a conflict with the power machinery of the pagan Roman Empire. The pages of the martyr Ignatius of Antioch, emphasize the role of the bishop in the Church communities with remarkable consistency.
