The chapter deals with the topic of the entity, causes and end point of cognitive act in Francisco Suárez’s theory of cognition from his Commentary on Aristotle’s De anima. It clarifies these theories by taking into account the relevant passages from his Metaphysical disputations. It considers especially the disputations 18 and 48, in which the Jesuit analyses the topics of the efficient causality and the ontological category of action.
