The US Health Care System: Its Corporate Character, Health Care Access in Comparison to the Single-payer System, Future Possibilities

  • Original language description

The article deals with the health care system in the United States and its issues and shows one of the possible ways of future improvement. In the description of corporate development of this health care system, it shows the system’s core problems in contrasts – the enormous profit of corporations in the system on one hand, and the lack of health care access for the poor and middle-income individuals due to an expensive and incomplete health care coverage through insurance on the other. The article then compares the US health care system with a single payer-system of health care with universal coverage in the Czech Republic. The third part of the article describes current state of political actions in the US health care sector during the period of republican government. It introduces the 2016 presidential proposals which were aimed at the reform of the system in the spirit of single-payer system.
