Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht die Beziehung zwischen der freiheitlichen Autonomie und dem moralischen Bösen anhand des Denkens von Kant und Ricœur. Kant ist bekannt als Denker der Autonomie. Zugleich spricht er vom natürlichen Hang zum Bösen, den jeder Mensch in sich vorfindet. Ricœur analysiert das Böse mit Hilfe einer empirischen Anthropologie des Willens und einer Interpretation der Symbolik des Bösen in der biblischen Fallgeschichte. Ricœur unterstreicht insbesondere die Motive der Unfreiheit des Willens und des Tragischen. Der Beitrag zeigt, dass beide Denker auf der einen Seite die heteronome Seite des moralischen Bösen thematisieren, andererseits aber jede Art von Heteronomie stets in der Autonomie verankern. Die böse Tat muss also als eine autonome Tat verstanden werden.
