Microalgal communities with dominant cyanobacteria (cyanoprokaryotes) develop in meltwater seepages in deglaciated areas of the maritime Antarctica during the Antarctic summer season. Our results from King George Island show that these communities have acharacteristic succession, vertical structure and species composition.
