Mitochondrial elongation of fatty acid is a possible route of anaerobic metabolism in over-wintering fish. Parameters of this pathway were studied in Prussian carp(Carassius auratus gibelio) liver mitochondria. It seems that the rate of lipid synthesis and its characteristics are related to season.
