We analyzed the effect of average monthly temperature and precipitation (May - July) on the breeding success of the Common Swift (Apus apus) in Třeboň (South Bohemia) from 1980 - 1997. We found that precipitation in May and temperature in June were significantly and positively associated with the percentage of nests in which no offspring survived. These factors were negatively associated with the number of offspring per nest, which partially contradicts previous observations. Breeding success consistently declined during the observation period. We suggest that additional long-term studies are needed to clarify the effects of abiotic factors on swift reproduction

Byl analyzován vliv průměrné měsíční teploty a srážek (květen- červenec) na hnízdní úspěšnost rorýse obecného (Apus apus) v Třeboni (Jižní Čechy) od roku 1980 do roku 1997. Bylo zjištěno, že srážky v květnu a teplota v červnu byly významně pozitivně spojeny s % hnízd, v nichž nepřežila žádná mláďata. Tyto faktory byly negativně spojeny s počtem mláďat v hnízdech, což částečně odporuje předchozím pozorováním. Hnízdní úspěšnost v průběhu sledovaného období klesala. Následující dlouhodobé studie by měly objasnit vlivy abiotických faktorů na reprodukci rorýse obecného
