Antrodia serialiformis from the eastern USA, a new and abundant polypore similar to A-serialis.

  • Original language description

A new and common polypore Antrodia serialiformis from eastern USA is described. The species is similar enough to A. serialis that previously both species were probably confused, but A. serialiformis seems exclusively confined to oaks. We present evidencethat the new species differs from A. serialis based on much smaller basidiospores, mating incompatibility, rDNA sequence differences, and ecology.
