    p-Nitrophenyl beta-chitobioside was prepared from p-nitrophenyl 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranoside using beta-N-acetylhexosaminidase from Aspergillus oryzae. As minor by-product a (1-->6)-linked regioisomer was formed.
