Original language description
The species of the helotrephid genera Limnotrephes Esaki & China, 1928 and Mixotrephes Papáček, Štys & Tonner, 1989 are revised, and the monotypic genus Tiphotrephes Esaki & China, 1928 is treated for comparison. Limnotrephes contains threee species: Limnotrephes campbelli Esaki & China, 1928 (type species) from India (Mysore), L. cejlonensis sp. n. from Sri Lanka and L. stuckenbergi Poisson, 1950 from Mozambique and Zimbabwe (first record). Mixotrephes contains six species: Mixotrephes hoberlandti Papáček, Štys & Tonner, 1989 (type species) from Iran and Afghanistan, M. kumaonis (Polhemus 1990) comb. n. (Limnotrephes) from Northwest India and Nepal, M. thermophilus (Papáček & Kovac 2001) comb. n. (Limnotrephes) from North Thailand, M. nepalensis sp.n.from Nepal, M. bengalensis sp. n. from India (West Bengal), and M. heissi sp. n. from India (West Bengal) and Bhutan.
