Multiple recent studies point towards an alarming decrease in the numbers of young people interested in the natural sciences. We can see that for the natural sciences to be reborn as an attractive field of study, we need to change the approach to the teaching of the natural sciences, we need to change the content, the form and the methods of teaching, we need to emphasize the interdisciplinary connection of findings and the developing of individual and creative approaches. Currently, multiple initiatives are running throughout Europe, attempting to reestablish the education of science through inquiry based learning.
