    Oxidation Processes Enhanced by Plasma in Environmental Applications

    The main scientific aim of this work is research and investigation of the system based on synergistic effect of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) such as photocatalysis, plasma or UV light for decomposition of the organic chemical substances resistantto biodegradation detected in wastewater. In our paper, the synergistic effect of simultaneously applied photocatalytically active material and low temperature plasma or UV light on decomposition of model substances (Acid Orange 7, Verapamil hydrochloride) were studied. TiO2 deposited by various methods was used as the photoactive material. Model substances with photoactive TiO2 were exposed to atmospheric plasma discharge (Gliding Arc) or UV source in order to improve generation of active hydroxyl groups and oxidation processes. The relations between different effects of AOP during model substances decomposition process were analysed. It was observed that decomposition of model substances is strongly improved by synergistic effect of:
