This article is devoted to the comparative analysis of three English fantasy novels for young readers (Rowling´s series Harry Potter, Pullman´s trilogy His Dark Materials, Higgins´s novel The Black Book of Secrets), with respect to the ethical aspects of the sublime and imagination (Burke, Kant, Lyotard), and against the background of the English Gothic novel.
