Computational Psycholinguistic Analysis of Czech Text and the CPACT Research

  • Original language description

The paper deals with an experimental application of computational linguistic analysis of Czech text in psychological assessment and psychodiagnostics. The paper presents the design and methodology of an interdisciplinary research CPACT (Computational Psycholinguistic Analysis of Czech Text), as well as its predecessor and pilot study QPA-FPT (Quantitative Psycholinguistic Analysis of Formal Parameters of Czech Text). The CPACT research aims to understand the relations between a person’s personal characteristics and the words they use, i.e. focuses on the application of computerized text analysis for the purposes of psychological assessment of a text’s author. The project team comprises experts from four academic institutions, including University of South Bohemia, Masaryk University, University of Hradec Králové, and Charles University. Using advanced computational methods we describe an individual’s language use in detail and, in combination with the results of psychological testing, identify which aspects of language use may be related to specific personality characteristics of the given speaker or writer.
