This paper analyses qualitative and quantitative relationships between phenomena and processes with a focus on those which influenced economic activity or inactivity of the population of 76 districts of the Czech Republic in 2008. It investigate how unemployment, criminality, sickness rate, and the age structure of the population influence the economic activity of the population regarding as a unsubstitutable factor of the economic growth and development not only on the macroeconomic level.
