Land, people, and art: An attempt to renew social identity in the Czech Republic
Original language description
Our aim is to stress the potential function of the land, people and art for renewal of the social identity, people memory of landscape , renewal and transform the symbols in the landscape, or in the cityscape, because the places in our cases belong to the cities not only in terms of cadastre, but also in terms of social memory of local community. Landscape (and cityscape as a landscape in the city, because city is located in the landscape) is understand in two levels: as a geographical and ecological entity, terrestrial mosaic of ecosystems on one side and as a symbolic construction existing in a form of cultural and social conditions in certain space and time on the other. The key element for understanding of landscape is a mutual interlink and unitybetween the place and community trough culture. It is evident that changes are going over this unity and transform not only material forms, elements, patches, patterns and mosaics of landscape structures.
