Foreign Ownership in SMEs and Industry 4.0
Original language description
The innovation trend in the small and medium-sized enterprises is the involvement of digitization and automation into production, known as Industry 4.0. The aim of the paper is to find out if foreign ownership in enterprises influences the willingness to implement the elements of Industry 4.0 in the enterprises in the Czech Republic. The analysis is based on the questionnaire research of 1,018 Czech SMEs. It was found that the SMEs with foreign control are more willing to implement parts of Industry 4.0 compared to the national enterprises. The medium-sized enterprises are the most influenced by Industry 4.0. It is assumed that the lack of available labour force and the increase of orders and wages will force the enterprises to implement Industry 4.0 in order not to lose their competitiveness.
