Factors Motivating Generation Babyboomers, X, Y and Z to Change Employers
Original language description
Each generation has its specific values, motivations, skills, expectations, and priorities, which affect the work environment and the business. For example, younger generations such as Generation Z may be motivated to change employers due to a desire for diverse experiences, opportunities for career growth, and seeking a flexible work environment and work on projects that are meaningful to them. Conversely, older generations such as Generation X and Baby Boomers may be motivated to change employers if they feel that their current employer is not providing them with sufficient challenge, recognition, or financial rewards. The paper aims to characterize the factors that most motivate different generations of employees to change employers. The data is based on research carried out in 2023 on 489 employees and focuses on the Baby Boomers, X, Y, and Z generations. The results comment on factors related to higher financial remuneration, more interesting job content, a change in the collective of people, career growth, homeworking, and others. Testing took place in the form of a t-test and correlation analysis. Understanding generational differences and individual motivations is important for effectively managing work teams and retaining talented employees in the organization.
