Economic Crime Analysis in the Regions of the Czech Republic in Relation to Macroeconomic Data
Original language description
Criminal activity is a serious but unfortunately inevitable phenomenon in society, which needs to be regulated or minimized. This paper deals with the analysis of crime from 2008 to 2022, and its main objective is to determine the relationship between solved crimes and the total number of crimes, as well as the relation between the severity of criminal offenses and unemployment and average wages. Furthermore, it aims to predict crime rates for the next 6 years. Additionally, based on multiple linear regression, it is compared the crime in the Czech Republic with its neighbouring countries. It has been found that there is a positive linear relationship between the number of crimes and the number of solved crimes. Similarly, there is a statistically significant negative relation between the number of crimes and average wages. Regarding the analysis in relation to neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic, it can be observed that the development of criminality in the Czech Republic follows a similar trend to that of the Slovak Republic and Germany.
