    &quot;Research background: Smart tourism represents a critical component of sustainable regionaldevelopment in new principal conditions. The new value represents regeneration, especially in thedynamically evolving economies of Central Europe. Countries like Germany, Austria, Czech Republic,Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland increasingly recognize the potential of smart innovations in boostingcompetitiveness and visitor experience. However, strategic orientation and policy responses vary. Thisarticle addresses how these countries embed smart tourism and innovation in their capital cities strategicframeworks and what innovation patterns emerge.Purpose of the article: The aim of this article is to explore and compare strategic documents of thecapital cities, action plans, and innovation frameworks related to smart tourism in the Central Europeancountries in the context of European influence. It seeks to identify key priorities and recurring themes thatsupport digital transformation and innovation in tourism.Methods: The study is based on content analysis and comparative analysis of strategic documents,supplemented by a cluster analysis of countries’ performance in the European Capital of Smart TourismProject.Findings &amp; Value added: The article provides valuable insights into SMART tourism policiesand implementation dynamics across Central European countries. It contributes to the discussionon management of smart tourism and innovation practices. Furthermore, it provides a better understandingof regional innovation gaps and highlights transferable practices for future smart tourism development.&quot;
