  • Original language description

Mechanisms of action of HgCl2 on Perca fluviatilis sperm were studied. In non-incubated sperm, sperm motility was totally suppressed at 250mM HgCl2 and ATP content of sperm was not differed between control and exposed sperm to HgCl2. Motility and velocity of demembranated sperm were decreased in HgCl2 and totally suppressed at 250mM HgCl2. Incubation of sperm in an immobilizing medium (IM) containing HgCl2 enhanced HgCl2 effects after sperm activation in AM containing HgCl2. Sperm motility of incubatedsperm in IM without HgCl2 was totally suppressed at 125mM HgCl2 after 3 h incubation. In case of incubated sperm in IM containing HgCl2, sperm motility was suppressed at 31mM HgCl2. ATP content of sperm was significantly lower in IM containing }3mM HgCl2compared with control. Damage to plasma membrane and axoneme were observed in incubated sperm in IM containing HgCl2 compared with control. In conclusion, HgCl2 acts on sperm through disruption of function of plasma membrane, axoneme, an
