Effect of weaning initiation time and feed pellet size on peled Coregonus peled (Gmelin 1789) larviculture
Original language description
This study investigated effect of weaning from live feed to a commercial dry pellet at 8 (W8), 13, (W13), 18 (W18), 23 (W23) and 28 (W28) days post hatch (dph) in combination with two starter feed size 0.1 mm (D-0.1) and 0.3 mm (D-0.3) on growth performance and survival of peled larvae. Positive control group fed only live Artemia sp. nauplii (A) and two negative control groups fed only artificial diet of size 0.1 mm (D-0.1) and 0.3 mm (D-0.3) were included in trial. Altogether 13 experimental groups tested in triplicate was established. The highest final body weight was observed in all groups weaned after23 dph. Group W13-0.1 showed no difference in survival, but reduced growth compare to late weaned groups. Based on the highest growing performance and elevated survival, W23-0.1 and W23-0.3 group showed to be the best feeding strategy.
