Original language description

Since 1996-7, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic has started a programme focused on conservation of animal gene resources, i.e. rare breeds of warm-blooded farm animals, fish and bees. With regards to fish, the goal was to conserve local breeds and long-term adapted strains of such species preventing interbreeding where crossbreds were widely used for production (e.g. 11 breeds of common carp, Cyprinus carpio? 8 breeds of tench, Tinca tinca; 2 breeds of wels, Silurus glanis; 3 breeds of rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss and 2 pure populations of brown trout, Salmo trutta m. fario) and to conserve pure species either where an intensive use of interspecific hybrids caused disappearance of pure parental species (whitefishes: Coregonus lavaretus maraena and C. peled)) or where the species were bred in captivity but strongly endangered in nature (sturgeons: Acipenser ruthenus and Huso huso).

Czech description

V letech 1996-7 zahájilo Ministerstvo zemědělství ČR program zaměřený na ochranu genetických zdrojů zvířat, tj. teplokrevných chovaných zvířat, ryb a včel. U ryb je cílem ochrana místních plemen a ras u druhů široce využívaných k produkci (tj. 11 plemenu kapra obecného Cyprinus carpio, 8 plemen lína obecného Tinca tinca, 2 plemena sumce Silurus glanis, 3 plemena pstruha duhového Oncorhynchus mykiss a 2 čisté populace pstruha obecného Salmo trutta m. fario) a ochrana čistých druhů intenzivně využívanýchpro mezidruhové hybridy (síhové Coregonus lavaretus maraena a C. peled) nebo druhy silně ohrožené v přírodě (jeseteři Acipenser ruthenus a Huso huso).
