Top-crossing with evaluation of slaughtering value in common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) offspring
Original language description
A three-year test of growth performance and offspring survival from top-crossing of common carp hybrids was terminated by assessment of slaughtering value of edible parts in the respective strains. A recently established Hungarian synthetic mirror carp strain (HSM) was chosen for testing as maternal strain. The HSM, as well as wild Amur carp strain (AC), Ropsha carp strain (ROP) and Tata carp strain (TAT) were used as paternal strain. In low altitude (350 m up the sea, middle European climate) the comparative test of analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed significantly (P<0.05) the best results of weight after killing in HSMxAC (1706.9 g) and HSMxROP (1693.0 g) crossbreds compared to HSM (1527.2 g) purebred and HSMxTAT (1514.0 g) crossbred. The percentage of processed body weight was significantly higher for HSM (66.8 %) purebred than to crossbreds (62.2 - 63.8 %). The percentage of fillet without skin was higher for HSM (35.4 %) purebred compared to crossbreds, but significantly lower
