The Content of Indicator and Planar PCB Congeners in the Fish from the Kružberk Dam Reservoir
Original language description
Seven fish species [Esox lucius (5+ to 9+), Stizostedion lucioperca (3+ to 8+), Perca fluviatilis (5+), Aspius aspius (5+), Abramis brama (5+ to 7+), Rutilus rutilus (5+), Anguilla anguilla] from the Kružberk dam reservoir (the Oder basin) were examinedfor the content of seven indicator PCB congeners (28, 52, 101, 118, 138, 153, 180) in muscle and in muscle fat, and three planar PCB congeners (77, 126,169) in muscular fat. The highest PCB contamination of the muscle was observed in A.anguilla (weight 1200 g) and E. lucius (weight 2730 to 9700 g), where the sum of indicator PCB congeners ranged from 0.674 to 1.801 mg kg-1 and 0.005 to 0.275 mg kg-1. The sum of PCB indicator congeners in muscle was highest in A.aspius (17.055 mg kg-1) and R.rutilus (15.794 mg kg-1), while in the remaining fishes it varied from 2.526 mg kg-1 (S.lucioperca) to 10.811 mg kg-1 (P.fluviatilis). In E.lucius, A.brama and A. anguilla, PCB 153 contributed to the sum of indicator congeners 27 - 30%, PCB 138 contr
