The expression of Cry3Aa renders potato plants fully resistant to the Colorado potato beetle. Surprisingly, feeding on the potato leaves slightly reduces larval growth and substantially curbs reproduction also in the moth Spodoptera littoralis.

Czech description
Pro ochranu proti mandelince bramborové byl do bramboru vnesen gen pro toxin Cry3Aa z Bacillus thuringiensis. Oproti očekávání však konzumace listů brambor poněkud snižuje růst housenek a podstatně snižuje plodnost dospělců můry Spodoptera littoralis.
