Redescription of Alinema amazonicum (Travassos, 1960) n. comb., a philometrid nematode with unusual morphology

  • Original language description

A detailed study of the morphology of specimens newly collected in catfishes in Peru and a reexamination of the type and voucher specimens of Philometra amazonica from Brazil confirmed that they belong to this species and that Philometra (Alinema) alii is its junior synonym. Because of some marked morphological peculiarities, Alinema should be considered a valid genus. This is the first record of A. amazonicum in Peru.

Redeskripce Alinema amazonicum (Travassos, 1960) n. comb., philometridní hlístice s neobvyklou morfologií
