Myxozoan genera: definition and notes on taxonomy, life-cycle terminology and pathogenic species

Original language description

A list of myxozoan genera is presented in the current taxonomical scheme. These genera are defined; their type species and most important pathogens along with their hosts are listed. Simultaneously, definitions of actinospore stages representing sexual stages of the myxosporean life cycle are given. Life cycles of the two classes of the phylum Myxozoa, Malacosporea and Myxosporea, are briefly outlined with specification of the appropriate terms. The surviving classification of myxosporeans, based on spore morphology, is discussed in the context of the still fragmentary data resulting from SSU rDNA sequence analyses. The main task for the future, i.e., rigorous, detailed morphological description combined with molecular data in establishment of new species and revision of the existing species is stressed.

Czech description

Práce obsahuje seznam rodů myxozoí podle současné taxonomie. Jednotlivé rody jsou definovány, jsou uvedeny jejich typové druhy, nejvýznamnější patogeni a přehled hostitelů. K tomu jsou připojeny definice actinospor, které reprezentují sexuální stadia životního cyklu myxosporeí. Pro dvě třídy kmene Myxozoa (Malacosporea a Myxosporea) jsou přehledně charakterizovány životní cykly a specifikována vhodná terminologie. Přežívající klasifikace myxosporeí založená na morfologii spor je diskutována v kontextu stále ještě fragmentárních dat, která vyplynula z analýz sekvencí SSU rDNA. Autoři zdůraznili potřebu kombinovat v budoucnu při popisech nových druhů detailní, přesné morfologické popisy s molekulárními charakteristikami a revidovat zařazení existujícíchdruhů.
