First experimental observations on the development of Rhabdochona denudata (Nematoda: Rhabdochonidae) in the intermediate host

  • Original language description

Two species of mayfly nymphs, Habroleptoides modesta and Habrophlebia lauta (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae), were found as suitable experimental intermediate hosts of the fish nematode Rhabdochona denudata (Rhabdochonidae), an intestinal parasite of Palaearctic cyprinids. The parasite eggs were obtained from gravid females parasitizing Leuciscus cephalus of the Rokytná River, Czech Republic. The nematode larvae grew and moulted twice (on 16-18 and 30-35 days p) in mayflies before attaining the third stage, which is already infective for the fish definitive host. Infective larvae were about 1.5 mm long and were encapsulated as in other congeneric species.

První experimentální pozorování vývoje Rhabdochona denudata (Nematoda: Rhabdochonidae) v mezihostiteli

  • Czech description

Dva druhy jepičích nymf, Habroleptoides modesta a Habrophlebia lauta (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae), byly zjištěny jako vhodní experimentální mezihostitelé rybí hlístice Rhabdochona denudata (Rhabdochonidae) ? střevního parazita palearktických kaprovitých ryb. Vajíčka parazita byla získána z gravidních samic cizopasících v Leuciscus cephalus v řece Rokytné v České republice. V jepicích larvy hlístice rostly a prodělávaly dvakrát svlékání (16-18 a 30-35 dnů p) předtím než dosáhly třetího stádia, kteréje již invazní pro rybího definitivního hostitele. Invazní larvy byly okolo 1.5 mm dlouhé a byly enkapsulovány jako u ostatních druhů tohoto rodu.
