Original language description
The trematodes Stegodexamene anguillae Macfarlane, 1951 were recorded from two species of Pacific ells, Anguilla obscura and A. reinhardtii (new host records) from the Pouembout and La Foa Rivers, New Caledonia, South Pacific. Previously this species wasknown only from New Zealand. The morphology of adult S. anguillae seems to be identical with that of the later described Stegodexamene callista Watson, 1984 from eels in Australia. In addition to this trematode, two larval specimens of a cestode of theorder Proteocephalidea were found in one A. obscura from the Pouembout River.

Czech description
Ve dvou druzích tichomořských úhořů Anguilla obscura a A. reinhardtii (noví hostitelé) z řek Pouembout a La Foa na Nové Kaledonii (jižní Pacifik) byl zaznamenán výskyt motolice Stegodexamene anguillae Macfarlane, 1951, druhu dosud známého pouze z NovéhoZélandu. Morfologie dospělců S. anguillae se zdá být totožná s morfologií později popsaného druhu Stegodexamene callista Watson, 1984 z úhořů v Austrálii. Kromě této motolice byly v jenom úhoři A. obscura z řeky Pouembout nalezeny dva exempláře larev tasemnice z řádu Proteocephalidea.
