Effects of low and high temperatures on infectivity of Cryptosporidium muris oocysts suspended in water

  • Original language description

Cryptosporidium muris oocysts suspended in water were exposed at different low and high temperatures. Both, frozen and heated oocyst suspensions as well as untreated control oocyst suspensions were then inoculated into mice. C. muris oocysts frozen at -5degrees C for 1 day remained infective for inoculated mice. Our results also indicated that when water containing C. muris oocysts was exposed at a temperature of 55 degrees C or higher for 1 min, the infectivity of oocysts was lost.

Vliv nízkých a vysokých teplot na infektivitu oocyst Cryptosporidium muris suspendovaných ve vodě

  • Czech description

Oocysty Cryptosporidium muris suspendované ve vodě byly vystaveny nízkým a vysokým teplotám a následně byly oocysty inokulovány myším s cílem posoudit vliv různých teplot na infektivitu oocyst. Oocysty C. muris vystavené teplotě -5°C po dobu 1 dne zůstávají infekční. Výsledky dále ukázaly, že pokud jsou oocysty C. muris vystaveny teplotám vyšším než 55°C po dobu 1 minuty ztrácejí schopnost infikovat dalšího hostitele.
