Gene encoding the prothoracicotropic hormone of a moth is expressed in the brain and gut
Original language description
Considerable part of the PTTH gene was identified in Sesamia nonagrioides. Highest amounts of corresponding mRNA were found in the brain (mRNA content was maximal in the feeding larvae and faded after feeding termination) and midgut (maximal content in the post-feeding larvae). It was concluded that molts of debrained larvae are driven by PTTH from the gut.
