The diet of common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis): a comparison of classical nest sediment analyses and camera trap records.
Original language description
The diet of common kingfishers (Alcedo atthis) was studied using their nest sediments collected at their nest sites on streams, river and reservoir in Central Bohemia, Czech Republic. Altogether, 31 nest sediments from 16 nest sites were analyzed during the years 1999 and 2013, comprising the remains of 17,827 prey individuals (for details see the work of Čech & Čech – 2013 – Hydrobiologia., Čech & Čech – 2015 – Bird Study., Čech & Čech – 2017 – Ardea).
