Original language description
The objective of this study was to examine the benefits of a multicomponent person-centered support initiative for older people living in nursing homes. Participants were 20 older people from Navarra (Spain) that were randomly assigned to person-centered support sessions or regular support sessions. Bi-weekly sessions were held over a period of 12 weeks. Participants in the person-centered group displayed significant improvements in loneliness and depression and a greater degree of health-related quality of life. Incorporating the person-centered approach in support initiatives could improve the psychosocial health of older people living in nursing homes.
