Soil Nematodes (Nematoda) of alder, birch and oak forests in South and West Bohemia, Czech Republic.

  • Original language description

Soil nematodes were studied in the alder, birch and oak forests in South and West Bohemia. The number of nematode species varied from 71 in alder to 81 and 85 in climax oak and birch forests, respectively. The greatest diversity of the nematode communityoccured in the climax oak forest. The mean total abundance of nematodes in the forests studied varied from1,7 to 2,57 x 106 with range of values from 0,88 to 5,77 x 106 ind.m2. The mean total biomass of nematodes varied from 0,97 to1,82 g.m2, the range of values 0,36 - 2,37 g.m2. Species of the order Tylenchida prevailed in all the forest ecosystems studied. The phytophagous Tylenchida dominated in the alder and the birch, whereas mycophytophages prevailed in the climax oak forest.
